Sorry for the delay, the September accuracy data is now in. ForecastWatch is now collecting forecasts and observations from over 1,000 locations now, on six continents. Over the next two months will will be bringing on additional international forecasters and locations, concentrating on the largest cities and capitals.

There was a great article by Sue Shellengbarger about the difficulty of weather forecasting this past month. It was very well written and thought portrayed a pretty accurate picture. The article can be read here: http://on.wsj.com/n0Xohm

Also, I learned about a new cloud type this month. Well, it's a proposed new classification a certain cloud type proposed in 2009 by the Cloud Appreciation Society called "Undulatus Asperatus" (or asperatus for short). Here is the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undulatus_asperatus

I found that out because I happened to see "asperatus" bearing down on our house as we were sandwiched between budding thunderstorms. Here's the picture: http://twitpic.com/72b9lx

I knew it wasn't really mammatus, and it really didn't look like anything else I was familiar with, so I Googled and discovered the proposed "Asperatus" classification.

Anyway, thought it was interesting!
